Happy new year! I love the start of a new year. It is the perfect chance to put all the previous years events, learnings, energy (or lack there of!) and lessons behind you and hit the refresh button. It’s a clean slate and there is so much possibility ahead. During my stay-cation this festive season, I really had time to re-boot and do some planning for the next chapter of Designer Man Cave. While the plans will shift and change as they come into fruition, here are 6 things I want to bring to life for DMC this year…
1. Staying true to my strengths
I’ve found it’s easy to get lost along the path of this one. I start to say yes to everything and before I know it, I’m doing work that doesn’t make me happy. I do my best work and jump out of bed in the morning when I enjoy what I’m working on and who I’m working with, whether it be a suppliers, colleagues or clients. I know what my strengths are – I just need to be mindful of them. Which is why I created this…
2. There are new interior services!
I’ve never had more clarity about what Designer Man Cave should offer as I do right now and I’m so excited about it! The services I launched this week are a culmination of all my previous work and clients and I’m pumped to have created the sweet spot of what I do best and what my clients need. I am making myself available for gents who just need a little help (ADVISE) in the way of hourly design packs (1, 5 and 10 hours) and for the “take it all off my hands” clients who need the all inclusive design service (TRANSFORM). You can find the options here.
If I’m balanced, my life is balanced and if life is balanced, my business is balanced. It’s like dominos! Every year I have a word (or theme) that I anchor myself with and try to achieve. And yep, on the cards for me in 2016, is balance. I’m really looking forward to working on it and 2 weeks in, so far so good ;)
Interior design is known to mainly be for the wealthy. It doesn’t have to be a long, all involved process and the more I work in this field, the more I believe that my skills and expertise should be accessible. I had a number of clients last year who just needed a helping hand – some advice, wanting to be pointed in the right direction or some assistance to make their current space and furniture work better. So besides the new interior services, I will also be working on some online gems. See next point…
5. New resources
I have a notebook full of ideas and plans to write and release some online, downloadable resources and there is a DMC SHOP on the way. Some resources are short and sharp (5 things you can do this weekend to improve your ____ room) and others are more detailed. Designer Man Cave has never just been a site for me to put my portfolio of work. It started as a blog and coming up to it’s 3rd birthday, is growing with content every month. I’m here to help people, not only as a business, but more simply, as an act of ongoing kindness.
This year is also about inspiration. I’m a total dreamer – ask anyone who knows me! Anything that inspires me, motivates me, so I plan on sharing a lot more interior spaces that I come across that make me drool. My gorgeous followers on Instagram seem to love the aspirational interiors and architecture I share, so I’ve decided to do more of it on the website.
So hear we go! I’m well rested and ready to tackle my year of balance and I would love for you to join me. If you’re not already a member of DMC and receive our news, special treats and updates once a month, I invite you to be part of it right here.
Is there anything in particular you need help with, for your home or office space? I would love to add your suggestions to my growing notebook of resource ideas. Feel free to contact me and let me know.
