In all its shades, blue is a versatile and popular colour to work with. According to the colour trend for winter 2014 in mens fashion, the shops are going to be ripe with blue options in the coming winter months. So, I have explored some interior options if you are keen to introduce it into your home and beyond your wardrobe….
This colour’s long standing earth link to the sky and water can give us a connection of serenity, calmness and freshness – perfect for your home sanctuary.
Blues are very versatile, very masculine and they work with many different colours:
Tan, grey, black, gold, silver, white, brown, cream
You don’t have to start painting your walls blue or tiling your bathroom (although the bathroom below is pretty amazing – please get in touch if you’re game to install something like this!). There are tonnes of different ways you can subtly introduce the colour into your interior by way of:
– Wooden furniture (storage, dining table, coffee table, side table)
– Upholstered furniture (sofas, bedheads, ottomans etc)
– Cushions, rugs, blankets, curtains, bedding
– Lighting (pendants or lamps)
– Artwork, homeware items (dinner plates, vases, trays, photo frames…)
Side note…don’t get TOO carried away on the blue front. Unless you are confident with colour and mixing different shades together, it’s best to use it as a highlight colour. Stick to one or two blue items per room.
Blue is definitely a favourite colour of mine at the moment (as you can see in the colour palette selection in the new May selection of the DMC SHOP!). I’ve done a cyberspace hunt and gather and found a few more blue interior goodies that would look great in a man space…
