This article comes care of a fantastic question that one of my lovely subscribers asked me. I love coming up with a balance of practical and aesthetic solutions for my readers and their man space homes – it’s what I do! This is the question that inspired todays article about how to store your music at home:
I have a massive passion for music and I have a huge CD collection that I barely use anymore and secondly I am in the process of buying a turntable and speakers for my apartment. I guess my questions are what are your clients doing with CDs they no longer use, as most have moved to digital. Do they store them or is there a great modern way to display them? Then do you have any ideas for the ideal Man Cave set up for having a turntable and speakers and small record collection. When I Google pictures of the turntable and records I seem to only get old 70’s style photos or DJ set ups…. – BEN
DISPLAY YOUR CDS OR RECORDS
If you like your prized collection of music, there is nothing stopping you from displaying it in a decorative way. In this day and age of everything being digital, I think it’s great to have physical reminders of your hobbies and passions around your home.
TURNTABLE AND VINYL COLLECTION
For guys who love their music, turntable (and DJ decks), there are different ways to integrate them into your home. Something to be mindful of is there is a good chance you don’t use it all the time, so it needs to be positioned somewhere convenient to use, but out of the way when you don’t.
DO AWAY WITH YOUR CD COVERS AND STORE THEM AWAY
If you prefer to not have your CDs taking up space or being on display and you are not ready to part with them, there are some great products on the market to help you do that. Boxing them is the first way, but depending on the amount of storage you have, this may still prove to be a space issue.
Many years ago, I bought some CD wallets from MUJI when I was overseas. I adore this shop but unfortunately they don’t ship to Australia (although they do have a couple of stores in Victoria!). I returned home and painstakingly went through all my CDs and removed the disc and the back cover insert and transferred them into the folders. Well worth the time and extra space I now have!
Are there any decorating problems you need solved for your man space? I am always happy to help where I can, so please feel free to shoot through your question. Chances are, if you are thinking it, other gents share your dilemma too!
