The beginning of each year is always a great time to think about making some updates to your interior, whether it be your home or office. With a fresh start after the holiday break and a relatively clear head (before work starts to take over your life again!), now is as good a time as any to make some interior improvements. The post-Christmas sales are still available too, which can make for some cost effective purchases. Without overhauling your entire place, here are a few ideas to spruce your pad a little…
SENSATIONAL SLUMBER TIME
New sheets are a quick and easy way to get you feeling good at home AND you get to appreciate them every night! There is nothing better at the end of a long day, than to crawl into a set of luxurious bedding. It makes for a very good nights sleep, which considering we spend about a third of our lives snoozing (if we’re lucky!), it is important for our health, energy and wellbeing.
New bath towels are a quick and easy improvement to give your bathroom an edge. They don’t have to be boring either. I can’t help myself and am constantly looking at ways to inject some style and pattern into homes and it doesn’t have to stop at artwork and floor rugs.
DECK OUT YOUR DINNER TABLE
Is it time to update that dinner set that you bought years ago? Perhaps it isn’t even a full set anymore, or what’s remaining has chips (one of my banes in life!). Tableware is a quick fix for your kitchen and there are loads of options out there. It’s easy to mix and match items and colours and is something that once you start, can be fun to shop for.
Cushions are an instant way to update the look of your living room and is a hell of a lot cheaper than buying a new lounge. I prefer mixing and matching cushions and the key is in the colours. You can have different patterns and textures if you keep to a colour scheme of about 4 colours.
ADD A LITTLE BIT OF NATURE
Another cost effective way to add some life to your home is with plants. I bought one of these concrete pots last year and it gives me daily happiness sitting on my desk. I think every interior (home and work) should have some plant life in it. There are a whole heap of health benefits too. Have a read of this Body & Soul article. If you are not blessed with a green thumb like yours truly, here are my recommendations when plant shopping: Succulents (great if you don’t over water them), Peace Lily (they tell you when they are going to die by wilting when they need water) or Zanzibar (I have proudly kept mine alive for 4 years and counting!).
Making some updates to your home or office doesn’t have to be an ordeal. A few changes here and there can make the world of difference. If your space needs a little more freshening up than some cushions and a pot plant or you don’t have time to shop around, I can come to the rescue.
